Your Hearing Consultation

Using the information you have provided from the patient information sheet, your hearing professional will discuss your hearing concerns with you, asking you for more details as needed.

We will then look into your ears with a video-otoscope, a small camera that projects a video image of your external ear canal onto a TV screen. You will be told what you are seeing and any implications it has concerning your hearing.

If it is determined you have an infection or other condition requiring a physician’s attention, Countryside Hearing Aids will assist you in finding an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist in the area.

Hearing Evaluation

Once your ears are thoroughly inspected, you will be shown into our certified sound booth for your hearing evaluation. We will then insert a pair of MedRx IP 30 earphones for the ultimate in acoustic isolation and comfort. You will also be given a handheld patient response button to let us know when you hear the various test tones. Testing is done via a MedRx Avant A2D+ Dual Channel Diagnostic Audiometer. For additional comfort, our sound booth is equipped with a large window, comfortable seating, microphones, and safety handrails.

Your hearing professional will then take you through a series of hearing evaluation protocols, which will include such things as:

  • Puretone Testing – Press a response button when the tone is heard
  • Speech Testing – Repeat the word heard at different presentation levels

Once testing is completed we will discuss your test results with you. If your hearing loss can be helped with hearing instruments, we will show you various options and let you wear a set while in the office to experience the improvement.

It is the job of Countryside Hearing Aids to help you to achieve better hearing. Being in business since 1979 and having a very rare BBB A+ rating as an accredited business, assures that you will receive the best hearing instruments and the best care possible.

Hearing Aid Service, Programming

At Countryside Hearing Aids we have all the tools necessary to clean, service, and tune up your hearing instruments. Digital Hearing Aid programming is our specialty and with decades of hearing aid experience, our results are exemplary.

Repairs of Your Hearing Aids

Minor repairs to your hearing aids and earmolds may be completed on the same day, although in certain circumstances you may need to leave your hearing aids with us. Repairs, that cannot be carried out on the premises, will be sent back to the manufacturer and returned to the center within 5 to 10 business days.

Hearing Aid Maintenance

Here are some good tips to keep your hearing aids as dependable as possible:

  • Clean your hearing aid daily with a dry cloth or a disinfectant spray or wipe.
  • Open your battery door on the hearing aid when you take it out at night.
  • In the morning, use a soft brush to brush away any ear wax or debris from the instrument.
  • Never submerge your hearing aid in water. This includes showering, swimming, and washing under a faucet.
  • Try to avoid dropping your hearing aid on hard surfaces.
  • Always turn it off, remove the batteries, and store your hearing aid in its case when not using it.
  • Avoid exposure to heat, such as the stove, oven, or dashboard of your car.
  • Store your hearing aids in a safe place out of reach of pets and children.

The regular service, programming, cleaning, and maintenance of your hearing aid are of extreme importance. We see hearing aids (analog and digital) every day that have been severely neglected and unfortunately, in many cases, the hearing aid’s sound quality suffers as a result.

Regular Service For You

At Countryside Hearing Aids we specialize in hearing aid service, programming, and maintenance. If you have a hearing aid problem we can generally fix it on the spot. In some cases, we may have to send the hearing aid out to our hearing aid repair lab. If so, that will generally take a few days.

Regardless of whether your hearing is a ReSound, Starkey, Oticon, Widex, Sonic Innovations, Signia, or Phonak, we can get you back to hearing better in virtually no time!

Earmold and tubing acoustics are also addressed at Countryside Hearing Aids. When you wear a behind-the-ear hearing instrument, if the earmold and tubing aren’t fit properly, you’re never going to hear as well as you should. It sounds rather obvious, but we see people every week who have been poorly served in this regard.
